The HKUCC system is designated to support the general computer
services primarily for staff. It is a high availability system consists
of system domains partitioned from a Sunfire 6900 servers, each with eight 1.35GHz UltraSparcIV processors,
32GB memory and disk storage shared from our SAN (Storage Area Network)
through fibre-channel switches. The high availability system deploying
the use of Veritas Cluster Server protects the system from total failure
whenever a single processor or disk failure occurs.

The HKUCC system supports over 5,000 users providing a wide
range of network services and application packages. These

- Solaris 9 with Veritas Cluster Server HA software 4.0
- Sun Studio 10 with C, C++ and Fortran compilers
- GNU C and C++ compilers
- Java Software Development Kit (JSDK) 1.2 and 1.4
