The HKUSUC system is designated to support email
services primarily for students admitted since the academic year 2007-08. It is a high availability system consists
of two IBM p5 550 servers, each with eight 1.65GHz Power5+ processors,
24GB memory and disk storage shared from our SAN (Storage Area Network)
through fibre-channel switches. The high availability system deploying
the use of High Availability Clusterng Multi-Processing (HACMP) protects the system from total failure
whenever a single processor or disk failure occurs.
