How to configure Eudora (7.x) for Email?

  1. From the Tools menu, select Options.

  2. On the left side of the Options window, click the Getting Started icon, and make these settings:

In the Real name field, type your Display Name

In the Mail Server (Incoming) field,

    • enter hkusuc.hku.hk as incoming mail server for your HKUSUC mail account
    • enter hkusua.hku.hk for your HKUSUA mail account
    • enter hkucc.hku.hk for your HKUCC mail account
    • enter hkucc1.hku.hk for your HKUCC1 (Exchange for Staff) mail account
    • enter graduate.hku.hk for your GRADUATE mail account

In the SMTP Server (Outgoing) field, type mail.hku.hk

    Uncheck the Allow authentication checkbox.

  3. On the left side of the Options window click the Incoming Mail icon.

Select IMAP to interact with your mail on the mail server.

Under Authentication style, click the Passwords radio button.

NOTE: If you select POP3 mode, all your emails will be downloaded from the email server to your local folders in Eudora and you can no longer access your emails via HKU Portal/WebMail. It will be very difficult to move your emails back to the email server.

  4. Click OK.

When you are done and you should have a working email client that sends and receives emails for you.
