How to configure Windows Mail for Windows Vista
1. Open Windows Mail by clicking the Start button => All Programs => Windows Mail.
2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Accounts.

3. Click Add button.

4. Select Email Account and click Next.

5. Type in your Display Name: this is the name that your recipients will see in the "From" field of e-mails that you send. Click Next.
6. Enter your HKU email address and click Next.

6. From the Options listed below, choose “IMAP” to view and manage the mail but they are stored on the server. If you select POP3 mode, all your emails will be downloaded from the email server to your local folders in Outlook Express and you can no longer access your emails via HKU Portal/WebMail. It will be very difficult to move your emails back to the email server.

Enter the incoming server and outgoing server names as shown in below:

For incoming mail server:
enter hkusuc.hku.hk as incoming mail server for your HKUSUC mail account or
enter hkusua.hku.hk for your HKUSUA mail account or
enter hkucc.hku.hk for your HKUCC mail account or
enter hkucc.hku.hk for your HKUCC1 (Exchange Email for Staff) mail account or
enter graduate.hku.hk for your GRADUATE mail account
For central integrated email/calendar service for staff (based on Microsoft Exchange software and runs on hkucc1.hku.hk system), refer to http://www.hku.hk/cc/faq/email/exchange/

If connect to HKU campus network, the outgoing mail (SMTP) server name is "mail.hku.hk". If connect from outside campus network, the outgoing mail (SMTP) server is "smtproam.hku.hk". Refer to "How to use smtproam.hku.hk" for detail.
- Click Next.

7. Enter your HKU Portal UID in the E-mail username field and Portal PIN in the Password field. Click Next.

8. Click Finish. Your email account is now set.
