Procedure to access HKU Email via iPad

   

This article explains how to quickly create an ActiveSync account on your iPad.

1.To add an email account to your iPad, tap "Settings", then "Mail, Contacts, Calendars", then "Add Account", then "Other", then "Add Mail account".








2.On the next screen, enter your name, address (in format of uid@hku.hk), password (HKU Portal PIN) and a description (which may be anything you like).

3.
     a) For incoming Mail Server,
            enter hkusuc.hku.hk as incoming mail server for your HKUSUC mail account
            enter hkucc.hku.hk for your HKUCC mail account
            enter graduate.hku.hk if you are graduate users.
      b) For outgoing Mail Server, enter smtproam.hku.hk if you are NOT graduate users.
            For graduate users, outgoing mail server should refer to network operator settings instead;

      c) Enter your HKU Portal UID in "User Name" and HKU Portal PIN in "Password", then click "Save"

4. The email setup is finished and you can see the account from the email account list





Remark:
The default Sent Mailbox setting in iPad/iPhone is different from the default setting in webmail interface. So we strongly recommend you to change the default Sent Mailbox setting in iPad/iPhone by following the procedure below.


1. Tap "Settings" in home screen

2. Choose "Mail, Contacts, Calendar"

3. Select your account from the list
Select account

4. Scroll to the bottom of the list and choose "Advanced"
Select advance

5. Under Incoming Settings
- Use SSL: OFF
- IMAP Path Prefix: mail/
- Server Port: 143
- Under Mailbox Behaviors, choose "Sent Mailbox"

select sent mailbox

6. Choose the default sent mail folder from the folder list. By default, the sent message will be saved in "sent-mail" folder.
