1. UN-INSTALL OLD VERSION

(A1) Un-install other installed anti-virus program

Install or running more than one anti-virus in one PC may cause conflict errors while installation or running the second anti-virus program.  Also running two anti-virus program simultaneity will slows down and limits detection of malicious programs because of conflict with each other.

To uninstall installed anti-virus program, please search the correspond programs and uninstall it in Control Panel.

          For Windows XP: Control Panel -> Add or Remove Program

          For Vista: Control Panel -> Programs and Features

          For Windows 7: Control Panel -> Programs ->Uninstall a program

(A2) Un-install the older version of Sophos Anti-Virus programs:

       When installing Sophos Endpoint Security and Control program version 10.x,  it will auto remove the older version (i.e 9.x).

(B) Download the Sophos Endpoint Security and Control installation program

login HKU Portal https://hkuportal.hku.hk
-> "Campus Information Services"
-> "Central IT Services"
-> "Download Sophos Anti-Virus"

(C) Install Sophos Endpoint Security and Control as instructed in the next section.

2. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Run the "Sophos Endpoint Security and Control" installation program (e.g. the downloaded program in hkuportal). 
   
   
2. The following windows will appear. Click OK to continue.
   
   
   
   
   
3. The Sophos Endpoint Security and Control will be automatically installed. The following windows will appear. Please do not close the windows until the installation is completed. Otherwise, there will be error messages.











4. After successful installation, you will see the icon at the right of your Windows taskbar.  Please wait for two minutes before reboot the PC to let computer to complete install and upgrade the SAV program.

3. UPDATING SOPHOS ENDPOINT SECURITY AND CONTROL SOFTWARE

Sophos is preconfigured to automatically search for, download and install updates to keep your defense against computer viruses as up-to-date as possible.

1. To update Sophos Endpoint Security and Control, right-click the icon and click "Update now".
   
   
   
2. Sophos Anti-Virus will download and update the required files and install them.
   

4. START SOPHOS ENDPOINT SECURITY AND CONTROL SOFTWARE

1. To start Sophos Endpoint Security and Control, right-click the icon and click "Open Sophos Endpoint Security and Control". 
   

          Or click start -> Sophos -> Sophos Endpoint Security and Control -> Sophos Endpoint Security and Control

2. To scan your computer against computer viruses, click icon.
