on Sophos Anti-Virus
(A) Un-install the following programs
via Control Panel -> Add or Remove
Program for Windows XP or Control Panel -> Programs and Features for Windows Vista.
1) Sophos Remote Management System (Some versions do not install this component)
2) Sophos AutoUpdate
3) Sophos Anti-Virus
Then restart your PC and login with Administrator rights.
(B) Download the SAV installation program
login HKU Portal https://hkuportal.hku.hk
-> "Services" tab
-> "Sophos Anti-Virus Download (for Authorised Users)"
link under "Computer Centre Services"
(C) Install SAV as instructed in the next section.
1. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
- Run the "Sophos Anti-Virus " installation program (e.g.
the downloaded program or on the "Sophos Anti-Virus" CD.
The CD will auto-run. If not, click to run the sav7.exe
file on the CD).
- The following windows will appear. Click OK to
continue.
-
The Sophos Anti-Virus will be automatically installed. The
following windows will appear. Please do not close the windows
until the installation is completed. Otherwise, there will
be error messages.

- After successful installation, you will see the icon
at the right of your Windows taskbar.

2. UPDATING SOPHOS ANTI-VIRUS
SOFTWARE
Sophos is preconfigured to automatically search
for, download and install updates to keep your defences against
computer viruses as up-to-date as possible.
- To update Sophos Anti-Virus, right-click the icon
and click "Update Now".

- When the program is updating itself you will see part
of the shield icon flashing green.

- Sophos Anti-Virus will download and update the required
files and install them.
 
3. OPEN SOPHOS ANTI-VIRUS
SOFTWARE
- To Open Sophos Anti-Virus, right-click the icon
and click "Open Sophos Anti-Virus". The following
window is displayed. :
To scan your computer against computer viruses, click Scan
my computer.
