3 -- Connecting to the HKU Network From Home
The Computer Centre provides
the HKUVPN (Virtual Private
Network) service for connecting your home PC to the HKU Network
respectively through modems and ISP/broadband connections.
3.1 The HKU Network
Account and Password
The HKU Portal account (or email account)
entitles you to all our network services. Your network
account name is the same as your Portal UID. However, the network password
(NOT your Portal PIN) is required for accessing campus
network services via the the HKUVPN (using
an ISP broadband network service). You must set your own
network password in the HKU Portal. Login the HKU Portal
using your UID and PIN, click Campus Information Services => Central IT Services => Set Network Password
