Information Security Awareness in the University
Information security for sensitive and personal data records covering students, staff and financial data is vitally important for the interests of the University and its members. A high level of security measures for protecting personal and sensitive information/data mounted on the University’s central IT information systems has for long been maintained by the Computer Centre.
To promote good information security practice in departments, the Computer Centre organizes Information Security Awareness Seminars for departments regularly. The presentations of the seminar covered topics on basic knowledge of information security and enhancing the awareness, are available at follows:
Information Security Awareness Seminar 2008 on 3 March, 2008
Joint Universities Information Security Awareness Seminar 2009 together hold with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the City University of Hong Kong on 2 April, 2009
The Departmental Information Security Coordination Group
The Departmental Information Security Coordinator Group is a consortium of colleagues from different departments who are nominated by department heads. The Coordination Group is set up to achieve the following objectives:
1. To promote information security among departments.
2. To foster better information sharing and exchange of experience on good practices and know-how on enhancing information security.
3. To enhance the information security of the University through concerted effort.
The above objectives will be attained through a wide spectrum of activities to be arranged, such as organizing technical seminars and workshops on the latest development of information security, on related technology updates, and other topics that would be of common interest to members of the group. Members of the group will be notified of the schedules of the forthcoming technical seminars/workshops by email. The presentation material of the seminar/workshop, if available, will be posted for the information of the group members or other University members who may be interested in them.
