This exercise is provided for teachers to gain a first hand experience in preparing their Moodle courses.

You need to have the teacher's role in a Moodle course and use this for doing the exercise. You may apply for a testing Moodle course on UAT platform by sending us an email providing your HKU Portal UID. Our email address is eLearningTeam@hku.hk.

1. Login Moodle
   1. Login UAT Moodle at http://hkuportal.hku.hk/uat-moodle/
   2. Locate your course MOODnnnn_2011, e.g. MOOD1001_2011. You are a teacher of this course
2. Starting with a new course
   1. Navigate around the course
   2. Try the functions: Course administration -> Edit settings
   3. Turn editing on
   4. Click the eye button to hide the News forum and then to show it
3. Course notes
   1. Turn editing on
   2. Create a topic section named "Lesson 1"
   3. Add a resource -> File, Label, Page, URL to your new course
   4. Add an activity -> Assignment
4. News forum
   1. Rename the "News forum" to "Announcements"
   2. Post an announcement in the News forum
5. Forum/Discussion board
   1. Add an activity -> Forum
   2. Add a new discussion topic
6. Switch role to student
   1. Switch to student role
   2. Switch back to normal role
   3. Turn editing off
