- New Associate IT Director
- Changed role for Dr P.T. Ho during 2010
1. Welcome Back
It doesn’t seem so long ago that I wrote my last article; time travels quickly! I trust you all had a pleasant Christmas break and a successful start to Semester 2. Naturally, I wish you a Happy Chinese New Year and all the very best in the Year of the Tiger.
2. New Associate IT Director
I mentioned in the last newsletter that we were in the process of appointing an additional Associate IT Director. I am now able to announce that Mr Peter Chung-Leung Li has accepted the University’s offer and commenced duties on Monday 18 January.
Mr Li comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience. He has the following qualifications:
- a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (First Class Honours) from HKU;
- a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; and
- an Executive MBA from CUHK.
In the United States, Mr Li has worked for large companies such as Microsoft, Oracle, BEA Systems, and Agile Software. Peter returned to Hong Kong in 2002 as the VP of Development and the General Manager of Agile Software. He has also worked for Interpublic GIS (Asia Pacific) and, more recently, as the Director of Research & Technology Development at the HK R&D Centre for Logistics & Supply Chain Management.
Peter brings significant experience across a range of IT functions and I am sure he will be an asset to ITS and the University.
3. Changed role for Dr P.T. Ho during 2010
With the appointment of Peter Li as mentioned above, Dr P.T. Ho has now assume the role of Coordinator for the major administrative projects the University is undertaking: (1) a new HR/Payroll system, (2) a new Student Information System (SIS), and (3) a new Enterprise Portal (EP). These three systems are all from Oracle/PeopleSoft. During 2010, Dr P.T. Ho will perform a very important coordination role across these three projects.
As always, please feel free to contact me regarding any important issue that you think I need to be aware of.
