A software package called "Tense Buster" for learning English grammar has been installed in the Computer Centre's PC laboratories in rooms OLB-134 and KB-218.  The software package will also be installed in our PC laboratories in rooms RR-101, RR-103, RR-201 and OLB135 later in early January, 1999.

This package is recommended by the English Centre for helping students to learn English grammar in an interactive way. The full package comes in five levels, namely elementary, lower intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate and advanced. The Computer Centre has installed the two higher levels, i.e. the upper intermediate and advanced levels, in the PC laboratories.

Users can self-learn selected English grammar topics according to their own choice and learning pace. The program provides students with feedback on their work and suggestions for remedial studies.  To hold the data for keeping track of a user's learning progress, a floppy diskette is need.

Before using Tense Buster, the user should initialize his diskette with the following procedure:

1. Insert a blank formatted floppy disk into the floppy disk drive of a PC in the laboratory.
2. Click on the "English Language Software" icon on the desktop metaphor of the screen.
3. Double click on the "Initialize data disk" icon and wait till the initial data is written to the floppy disk.
