Password for Personal Computer Accounts can be Changed Online

You can now change the password of your computer accounts (HKUSUA or HKUCC systems) online if you are a staff member at HKU and if you have a UIS (University Information System) account.

The Change Computer Password Form can be accessed through the Intranet Systems for Staff with the following procedure:

  1. Visit HKU Intranet at http://www.hku.hk/intranet.
  2. Click on the button 'Intranet Systems for Staff'.
  3. Login using your UIS account name and password.
  4. Click on the button 'Computer Centre'.
  5. Click on the link 'Change Computer Account Password'.
  6. Choose the computer name HKUCC or HKUSUA
  7. Type in your new password twice.

Note: The new account password will be effective within 3 hours if the electronic form is submitted during normal office hours. Otherwise, the new password will be effective within one working day after submission of the electronic form.

Do not confuse the HKUCC or HKUSUA account password with the PPP account password which is used for connecting to the network from home via the dial-up modem and which can also be changed on-line.

Please refer to 'Recommendations on the Security of Accounts' for choosing a secure password.  For better account security, it is also recommended that you should change your account passwords regularly, e.g. once every two to three montns.
