Departmental Workspace and Group Email Addresses
As highlighted in the earlier issue of ITS News (No. 152), we are pleased to inform you that Departmental Workspace on the central Microsoft SharePoint 2010 server is now available for application by departments. In conjunction with this new service, another commonly used function is also made available for departments to set up Group Email Addresses on the central email/calendar platform based on Microsoft Exchange 2007 server (may be known to you as HKUCC1 or HKUCC-COM).
Highlights of the key features of the departmental workspace on the SharePoint server, captioned by ABCDEF, are described below:
- Administration of departmental site provisioning and user rights - departments can set up SharePoint sites and manage user rights on their own
- Blogging - blog sharing for Groups in department
- Calendars for Groups in department - for managing events and group activities
- Document library - a document library where different document sites can be set up and user rights under respective sites, such as view/edit rights, can be granted to individuals
- Editing of webpages - provides a tool for web page authoring
- Find by searching - provides the keyword search function

To apply for the above services, departments can submit the application form no. CF-158 "Application for Departmental Workspace in Central SharePoint Server (workspace.hku.hk) and Email Group for Staff (HKUCC1)" by referring to the information sheet, CF-158i.
