Central desktop management
for Staff PC
A new Central desktop management infrastructure
is ready to use which allows departments to join
departmental Staff computer into the Central Windows domain
(HKUCC-COM) with following benefits:
- Simplified email client setup – MS Outlook client is much
easier to setup as those server settings can now be obtained
from Active Directory
- Single Sign-on – second logon is not required when using
the Outlook client after the user logged on the Windows
using the domain credential
- Remote software distribution (e.g. MSOffice, Acrobat
Reader) from Central SCCM server
- Central windows updates from SCCM server maintained by
ITS
A new PC procurement option is available to be chosen from
the PC tender list that your department can order desktop
computer with pre-installed Windows 7 Enterprise edition
(32-bit or 64-bit) which is ready to join into Central
Windows domain.
When placing new computer order to corresponding desktop
supplier, please specify the model with pre-installed disk
image.
To use this service, your department and the corresponding
computer owner must have:
- Subscribed Microsoft Campus Agreement (MSCA) – you can
check your subscription with ITS General Office (phone: 2859 2491)
- Registered to use the Central Email and Calendar Service
for Staff (HKUCC1) or new staff joined after Sept, 2008
